W grach typu Lowball, w przeciwieństwie do 5 Card Draw, Hold’ema lub Studa, gdzie liczą się najwyższe układy, tu rozdanie wygrywa najlepszy niski układ pokerowy.
Poker dobierany pięciokartowy lowball -> wygrywa ręka najsłabsza, jak najniższe karty na ręku - gra jest przeciwieństwem 5 Card Draw - pokera dobieranego. najlepszy układ w tej grze to A-2-3-4-5, potem A-2-3-4-6 itp. kolory i strity nie liczą sie przeciwko nam ( odwrotnie jest w odmianie 2-7 NL SD). z reguły wariant ten grany jest z Jokerem (liczy się on jako najniższa możliwa karta np. ręka A-2-3-Joker-5 => A-2-3-4-5) i taki jest też opisany w niżej wymienionej książce.

Założyłem ten watek ponieważ czasami udaje mi się namówić znajomych na granie tego lowballa - "podpasił" im ten wariant odrazu (w 2-7 NL SD albo w badugi 99% potencjalnych chętnych traci chęć do gry już gdy próbuje tłumaczyć zasady :( ). gramy w 3-4 osoby wariant no limt&ante& jedna wymiana kart. aby było więcej emocji gramy z dwoma Jokerami w talii.
Warianty:
- 5 Card Draw&A-5 Lowball mix- albo na zmianę np. co kilka rozdań albo gdy gra się wariant 5CD Jacks or better -
gdy nie ma nikt otwarcia, wtedy gracze próbują tymi samymi kartami rozegrać spota w A-5 Lowball
- bez jokera
- strity i kolory licza sie przeciwko nam wiec najlepsza reka to A-2-3-4-6 niebędąca w jednym kolorze.
- Superlow (Superlowball) - Michael Wiesenberg had proposed a 4-round format for A-5 :fuckyeah , first round you get 3 cards, next 2 rounds you get 1 more card each, final round you draw. He called it "Superlow". The concept never caught on.

ACE-TO-FIVE LOWBALL
In ace-to-five lowball, the best hand is any 5-4-3-2-A. Straights and flushes do not count against your hand.
1. If a joker is used, it becomes the lowest card not present in your hand. The joker is assumed to be in use unless the contrary is posted.
2. In limit play, check-raise is not permitted (unless the players are alerted that it is allowed).
3. In limit ace-to-five lowball, before the draw, an exposed card of seven or under must be taken, and an exposed card higher than a seven must be replaced after the deal has been completed. This first exposed card is used as the burncard. [See 'Section 16 - Explanations,' discussion #8, for more information on this rule.]

4. In limit play, the 'sevens rule' is assumed to be in use (the players should be alerted if it is not). If you check a seven or better and it is the best hand, all action after the draw is void, and you cannot win any money on any subsequent bets. You are still eligible to win whatever existed in the pot before the draw if you have the best hand. If you check a seven or better and the hand is beaten, you lose the pot and any additional calls you make. If there is an all-in bet after the draw that is less than half a bet, a seven or better may just call and win that bet. However, if another player overcalls this short bet and loses, the person who overcalls receives the bet back. If the seven or better completes to a full bet, this fulfills all obligations.
Betting Sevens
Some play that a player who checks after the draw with a hand that is 7-low or better (five different ranks with nothing higher than a 7) and has the best hand at the showdown can only win the chips that were in the pot at the time of the draw. Any chips that were bet after the draw are placed in a separate pot that this player is not eligible to win.
Betting, calling a bet or raising after the draw entitles you to win the whole pot with your 7-low or better if you have the best hand at the showdown, provided that you did not check at your first turn to act after the draw. It is therefore unwise to check after the draw with such a hand, unless you intend to fold if another player bets against you.
